Addressing the national conference on ‘Legal education’ jointly organized by the Karnataka State Law University and the Bar Council of India at Hubli, Karnataka on 26.01.2010, the Bar Council of India President Suraj Narain Prasad Sinha emphasized the need for bringing about changes in legal education to make it effective in combating challenges arising out of foreign direct investment in the country.

He said “we have been opposing FDI in education, however, it is very difficult to keep off foreign companies as long as the Indian government is party to several international treaties.  Thus, in this complex situation, the onus is on the law teachers and universities to play crucial role in protecting the country’s interests, its resources and people.  Hence, our laws must be strengthened and made flawless, he added.
