Dr.Balbir Singh Chouhan is the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Governor of Orrisa Mr.Sayed Sibte Razi administered the oath of office to Dr.Chouhan in Cuttack today. Justice I. M. Quddusi had been discharging the duty of acting Chief Justice since May. Justice Chouhan graduated in Law in the year 1974 from Banaras Hindu University. He did his doctorate from Victoria University, Manchester (U.K.) in the year 1979 and enrolled as an Advocate in April 1974. He elevated as permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court in 1995. In 1997 he was transferred to Rajasthan High Court and then transferred to Allahabad High Court in 2003. The strength of judges in Orissa High Court has gone to 19 with his appointment as a new Chief Justice.
