The Kerala High Court Advocate's Association passed, by majority, the resolution moved by its members demanding a probe with respect to the allegations of corruption against Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and his family members. The Association in its extra ordinary General Body convened on 18th of January, 2011 demanded a probe to be initiated by the Ministry of Law and Justice and also asked the former Chief Justice to step down from the office of the Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission.
The Kerala High Court Advocates' Association represents 10% of the total Advocates in the State of Kerala and having membership of more than 4500 Advocates. The near relatives of Justice KGB, that is his brother K.G. Baskaran, his son in laws P.V. Sreenijan and Baby, his son K.B. Pradeep and his daughter K B Sony are members of the Kerala High Court Advocate's Association. The resolution was passed after a lengthy debate in the floor and 25 members of the Association participated in the debate. 271 members of the Association casted their vote.
The Thiruvananthapuram Bar Association, a prominent bar association in the Capital City of Kerala has also passed a resolution, today (18-1-2011), demanding a probe against the allegations against Justice K G Balakrishnan.
