One more person has been arrested in Mumbai by the Crime branch in journalist J Dey murder case. The arrested person has been identified as a Mumbai based builder Vinod Asrani alias Vinod Chembur. Vinod Asrani was produced before the magistrate court in Mumbai today and has been remanded to police custody till Thursday.
According to initial reports, the person has allegedly facilitated the murder by providing cash to the shooters and others associated with the crime. He is said to have acted on the instruction of underworld gangster Chotta Rajan.
Police sources said that Vinod had called J Dey to a suburban hotel on the pretext of a meeting and had also simultaneously called the shooters to help them to identify the target. Earlier, Mumbai police had claimed that one of the alleged shooters Satish Kaliya had said that he had received cash from unidentified persons in Chembur and Nallasopara area for committing the crime.
On June 27, the police informed about the arrest of 7 persons allegedly to be involved in the case. The arrested persons were produced in the magistrate court on 27th June which remanded them to police custody till tomorrow.
