Appointment of Public Prosecutors and Government Lawyers

 Public Prosecutors are appointed by the concerned State Governments as well by the Central Government under Criminal Procedure Code 1973 and / or under relevant provisions of special statues . 

Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister for Law & Justice, said that as regards shortage of public prosecutors and Government Lawyers, there does not appear to be any shortage of Public Prosecutors and Government Lawyers before various Courts for conducting prosecution/ Litigation on behalf of Central Government.
