Retirement Age of Judges

The Constitution (One Hundred and Fourteenth Amendment) Bill, 2010 was taken up for discussion in the Lok Sabha on 28.12.2011. However, the discussion remained inconclusive due to adjournment of the Winter Session. Request for listing it for discussion in the Budget Session has been made by the Government. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice, said that the decision to raise the age of superannuation of judicial officers in the subordinate judiciary rests with the State Government and the respect High Court.
