The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the fate of 96 reserved category candidates who have been kept out of the merit list prepared by the Union Public Service Commission relating to civil services for the year 2007. The apex court wanted to know from the Centre and the UPSC whether such candidates can finally be accommodated in the list or not. Solicitor General G E Vahanvati told a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan on Tuesday that he can apprise the court after taking instructions from the UPSC and Department of Personnel and Training. Following which the Bench adjourned the matter for 24th September.
