Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), the apex anti-corruption integrity institution of India is entering into 50 years of its existence. The CVC is celebrating its Golden Jubilee on 11th-12th February, 2014. The Golden Jubilee Celebrations will be inaugurated by Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India on 11th February,2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi and presided over by Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India. A commemorative stamp is being released on the occasion. The Commission is also releasing a Coffee Table Book and a documentary film on CVC during the celebrations. Hon’ble Justice P.Sathasivam, Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India will preside over the valedictory function on 12th February 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

 

Senior Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries from different walks of life, contributing directly or indirectly to the good governance of the country, are taking part in the panel discussions which are drawn as part of the national seminar organized on the topic “Combating corruption: Role of Accountability Institutions, investigating Agencies, Civic Society and Media”. There are three Plenary Sessions and four Breakout Sessions spread out during the two day Seminar. The sub-themes for these Sessions are (i) Strengthening framework for improving the anti-corruption climate in India, (ii) Role of Investigating Agencies: Ensuring autonomy with accountability, (iii) Combating corruption: Technology as an enabler,(iv) Corporate Ethics: Moving beyond dilemmas (v) 360 Degree Approach: Role of media and civil society in combating corruption and (vi) Central Vigilance Commission: The way forward.

 

In addition to the Chief Vigilance Officers of all Departments and organizations of Government of India who are the extended hands of the CVC, all other stake holders in the arena of vigilance administration and those who are directly and indirectly related to the good governance of the country are being invited to participate in the Seminar so that the Golden Jubilee not only remain as a celebration but also an useful and purposeful exercise in taking forward the fight against the menace of corruption.
