Symbiosis Law School, Pune organized its Annual Alumni Meet on the 12th of April 2015. More than 80 alumni attended the meet. The meet was organized in its new campus at Viman Nagar from 12 pm to 4pm.

 

Chief Guest for the meet was none other than its own alumni Hon’ble Justice Mrs. Revati Mohite Dere, Judge, Bombay High Court. The guest of Honour, Mr. Sameer Chugh, Director Legal & Regulatory for Bharti Airtel and the Key note speaker, Mr. Rohit Kumar, General Counsel, United Phosphorus Ltd., Mumbai, were also the alumni of the prestigious SLS, Pune. All of them shared their fond memories and the role played by SLS, Pune in building up their tall stature. They exchanged old anecdotes and gave suggestions to further strengthen SLS, Pune, their Alma mater. 

 

Meet started with the welcome address by Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Dean Faculty of Law, SIU. Post felicitation of all the guests, Mr. Sampath Bulusu General Manager – Legal, Shell Hazira, Ahmadabad and alumni cell mentor, SLS, Pune, felicitated Hon’ble Chancellor, Padmabhushan Dr. S.B. Mujumdar.

The biggest attraction of the alumni meet 2015 was the inauguration of the Incubator and Tycoon Tribunal- Entrepreneurship & Business cell in the hands of Dr. Mujumdar.

Incubator with primary aim of training lawyers for community lawyering, began with SLS, Pune’s  collaboration with CUNY (City University of New York) School of Law, USA in  the year 2010, identifying one alumnus and aiming at annual outcome consolidated now with Mr Fred Rooney, advising from Touro Law Center’s International Justice Center for Post-Graduate Development, New York.

 

Through these incubators, an attempt shall be made to provide assistance and technical support to young lawyers working towards making justice available to the economically and socially backward sections of society.

“The Tycoon Tribunal”-Entrepreneurship and Business Cell is a student initiative and primarily a brainchild of Akshay Verma, BBALLB V Year (2010-15 Batch). The cell aims to provide the students of SLS, Pune to ideate, discuss and gain experience in the field of business and entrepreneurship to pave way for a career in the same. This cell consolidates current start ups by students and alumnus across India and in Dubai. 

It will allow students of the college with business oriented mind-sets and entrepreneurial career aims to come together, create, be educated and themselves educate each other in the various fields of business & entrepreneurship and compete in competitions with B-Schools in the country.

This announcement showcases Symbiosis Law School Pune’s dedication towards wholesome development not only towards law, but entrepreneurship or Business Administration as well.

The historic announcement was followed by the release of Alumni Nexus- the annual Alumni News Letter of the college.

The meet also included a Continued Legal Education Programme (CLE) on “Leadership Primer for Lawyers” by Adv. ChanderLall, Founder, Partner, Singh & Singh, Lall & Sethi.  Mr. Madhav Mallya who had been witnessing the event on Skype form McGill University where he is pursuing his doctorate, also addressed the gathering.

Mr. Sachin Ravi, another alumnus of the 2008-2013 batch who has started his own quiz company in Bangalore with Mr. Raghav Chakravarthy, alumni of 2007- 2012 batch hosted the quiz competition for the audience.

Dr. Bindu Ronald, Deputy Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, delivered the vote of thanks.
