Renaming of High Courts

The State Governments of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have sent the proposals for changing the name of ‘Bombay High Court’ as ‘Mumbai High Court’, ‘Madras High Court’ as ‘Chennai High Court’ and ‘Calcutta High Court’ as ‘Kolkata High Court’ respectively. A suitable legislation to consider such requests is under consideration of the Government. 

This information was given by Union Minister of Ministry of Law & Justice, Shri D. V. Sadananda Gowda in a written reply in Lok Sabha today. â€‹
