The Supreme Court has adjourned the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case for August 2.
The Constitution Bench has passed a short order to that effect after considering the report filed by Chairperson of the Mediation Committee, Justice FMI Kalifulla.
The matter was heard by a Constitution Bench comprising Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer.
The Court, after perusing the report, stated that it will not put the contents of the report on record since the mediation proceedings are confidential.
It then proceeded to post the matter for hearing on August 2.
It also directed Mediation Committee to inform the Court of the progress made in the mediation by July 31 so as to enable the Court to pass appropriate orders on August 2.
On the last date of hearing, the Court had directed the mediation panel set up to settle the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute to submit a report detailing the progress of the mediation by today.
