The Central government had recently filed a statement in the Supreme Court explaining the scenario in the Kashmir and the future stage of the state where restriction will no longer be required.
Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, the Secretary to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has presented the government’s stance on the matter, the pre-emptive action of imposing restriction in the valley has prevented any loss of life and property in the aftermath of the decision to revoke the special status of State. The report further justified the media and communication cut down and the imposition of Section 144 of the Cr.PC(curfew) as a temporary preventive measure to ensure minimum violation of law and order.
The report states that Section 144 has been removed from 88% of the police station in Kashmir and major steps have been taken for restoration of communication and information flow. It also states that necessary resources, including medical facilities, cash withdrawal and access to courts had been ensured to the people of the valley by the District Magistrate, SPs and State Government on a daily basis. The detention of the major leaders of the state has been subtly put under the preventive measures to ensure the law and order of the state and to reduce the chances of violence subsequent to the abrogation of Article 370.
The Supreme Court had directed the Centre to file an affidavit, mentioning all the necessary steps in details which are taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the citizen of the valley.
