The Bar Council of India has decided to conduct a nationwide consultation with lawyers to gather opinion on resumption of regular hearings in the courts.
BCI has issued a statement, saying virtual courts are unable to provide justice to the litigants as public is in dark as to what is happening in the virtual courts in the country. The consultation aims at gathering opinion of Senior advocates and other lawyers regarding resumption of regular hearings in all courts across the country as both litigants and lawyers are suffering because of the virtual system.
BCI has opined that a few blessed lawyers and law firms, having high connections, are trying to take advantage of closure of the courts. Due to this, the entire legal system is likely to go out of the hands of common advocates. It also said that any decision taken by the courts without taking the Bar into confidence, will not succeed.
It also has advised the Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justices of various High courts to take note of the difficulties faced by the lawyers and the litigants. And have urged the Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers to help the lawyers in need to overcome their loss.
