• A single-judge's Bench of Delhi High Court took cognizance of the illegal constructions near QutubMinar, on a petition filed before it.

• As per the rules, there cannot be construction of any sort within 100 meters of a "protected monument". In this case, the constructions were done within 40 meters of the QutubMinar.

• The Judge observed that since the construction was being done on a large-scale, it shouldn’t have been missed out by the authorities.

• The Petitioner had also pointed out the mass felling of trees for the purpose of illegal construction.

• The Petitioner had sought directions for halting the illegal constructions in the Qutub Colonnade.

• Vide its Order dated 23/12/2020, the High Court directed the Zonal Deputy Commissioner to "fix responsibilities of officers who may be found to be in dereliction of their duties", and the Director General of ASI and DCP, South to look into the matter with respect of police in this regard.

APPLICATION STOOD DISPOSED OFF. FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS, IF ANY, ARE AWAITED.
