Remand Power U/s 167 CrPC Can Also Be Exercised By Courts Superior To Magistrate: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court held in a judgment rejecting an appeal filed by jailed activist Gautam Navlakha seeking default bail in the Bhima Koregaon case that the power under Section 167 of the Code of Criminal Procedure can be exercised by courts that are superior to the Magistrate.
Though the Magistrate has the power to order remand by way of reasonable jurisdiction exercised by the superior (which will, in effect, include the Court of Sessions acting under Section 439), the power under Section 167 may be exercised by Courts that are superior to the Magistrate, as the bench comprising Justices UU Lalit and KM Joseph noted in the judgment:

The Allahabad High Court has received a petition seeking guidance for live streaming of proceedings and giving reporters physical and virtual access to courtrooms so that court proceedings can be covered.
The petitioners requested the establishment of a High Powered Committee, led by a sitting or retired Judge(s) of the Allahabad High Court and a panel of Experts, to devise and provide suitable suggestions for the live streaming/telecast of Court proceedings, as well as to make it easier for media persons/journalists to access the proceedings.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court have sought responses from a Flight Commander and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in response to a petition filed by a woman pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF) seeking the cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to the Flight Commander by the Principal Sessions Judge in Jammu in a sexual harassment case (Ginni Chaudhary V/s M. Karpal and others).
On May 14, a single-judge bench led by Justice Sanjeev Kumar issued notice to the respondents and ordered them to answer within four weeks.

Property of a person who is not a 'taxable person' cannot be attached under Section 83 CGST Act: Delhi High Court
The Delhi High Court has ruled that the authorities cannot seize property, including bank accounts, of people who are not "taxable individuals" under Section 83 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act (Roshni Jaiwal vs CCT).
According to a bench of Justices Rajiv Shakdher and Balwant Singh,
"The respondent cannot bind any and all property, including bank accounts of persons other than the taxable individual, in order to protect the revenue's interest."
The order was issued in response to a petition filed by a former company director who was under investigation under Section 67 of the Act.
The complainant was a shareholder in the company and is now working as a "mentor" for it.

YSR Congress MP Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju moves Supreme Court seeking bail in a sedition case, alleges "indiscriminate beating" by Police
Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju, a YSR Congress MP who was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Friday on charges of sedition, has appealed to the Supreme Court against an order of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) High Court refusing him bail on May 15.
Raju said in his Supreme Court appeal that the High Court ignored all of the grounds for bail and instead told him to go to the sessions court for bail.
