What Has The SCBA Said
- The Supreme Court Bar Association has clarified that the letter to the CJI was only meant to give Supreme Court Lawyers an equal opportunity for Elevation to the HCs.
- SCBA President Senior Advocate Vikas Singh has mentioned that there was absolutely no intention to cast aspersions on the credibility of lawyers practicing in the High Court.

- The statements were made for the consideration of SC lawyers by the High Court on an equal note.
- He stated that every lawyer practising in India should be considered on the basis of merit alone, regardless of their Court of practice.
Current Developments
- The SCBA urged the CJI to note that SC lawyers, even though they have vast experience in dealing with all kinds of cases relating to civil, criminal, and constitutional law, are rarely considered for elevation.
- The SCBA letter cleared that the HC Collegium may also consider names of other lawyers from their respective bars to select the most deserving candidate.
