SC Issues Notice On Plea Challenging AIIMS' Decision To Provide 80% Reservation To Women In Nursing Attendant Post
A plea had been filed against the decision taken by AIIMS to provide 80% reservation for women candidates for direct recruitment to the post of nursing attendant. A notice has been issued by the Supreme Court regarding the same. The 3 judge Bench consisting of Justice U U Lalit, Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice Aniruddha Bose issued the aforementioned notice. The case is of Mahipal Singh Jhakar & Ors. V. Union of India.

Gujarat HC Reserves Order On Petition Against Liquor Prohibition Laws
A petition had been filed against prohibition of liquor in the state of Gujarat. The Gujarat High Court has reserved its order on the maintainability of the petition. The ban was first challenged in 1950. In 2017, it was challenged again on the grounds of Right to Privacy. The decision was given by the Division Bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Biren Vaishnav.

Jammu and Kashmir HC: Not Standing Up or Refusing To Sing National Anthem Not An Offence
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has stated that the act of not standing up for the national anthem and staying quiet during the national anthem may amount to disrespect to the Fundamental Duties, however, such an act is not an offence per se with regards to the Prevention of Insult to National Honor Act, 1971. The decision was given by the single judge Bench of Justice Sanjeev Kumar. The case was of Dr. Tawseef Ahmed Bhat V. State of Jammu and Kashmir & Anr.

Supreme Court Issues Notice To Telangana Govt On Petition Challenging Preventive Detention Of Accused Released on Bail By Police
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Telangana Government and sought a reply within a week. A petition had been filed which alleged that the police had kept the accused who had already been granted bail under preventive detention. The decision was given by the 3 judge Bench of Justice R F Nariman, Justice B R Gavai and Justice K M Joseph. According to the Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, the police had the authority to hold an accused under preventive detention for the same offences for which bail had been granted.
