MADRAS HC ORDERS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST INSPECTOR 12/17/2008 Madras High Court ordered the Commissioner of Police (CoP), here to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the Nungambakkam station Inspector of Police for not complying the order of the court on a land dispute case. While allowing a writ petition filed by Ahamed Ibrahim of chennai, Mr Justice K Mohan Ram also directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Nungambakkam to comply with direction issued by the XIV Assistant Judge, City Civil Court, Chennai and Additional Chief Metropolitian Magistrate, Egmore. The Judge also directed the police to ensure protection to the petitioner’s life and property. ‘The investigation has to be conducted by the ACP and it will be monitored by the Deputy Commissioner of Police,’ the Judge added. In his petition, Ahamed Ibrahim submitted that he purchased a land with a building at Nungambakkam. The patta of land had been transferred in favour of him. He obtained the demolition plan from the Commissioner, Corporation of Chennai. The building was demolished in January 2008 in order to put up a new construction. UNI
