Delhi High Court Grants Bail To Five Accused In Head Constable Ratan Lal Murder Case

The case was of Md. Arif V. State and connected cases. The decision was given by Justice Subramonium Prasad. The Delhi High Court granted bail to the 5 accused persons. The cases were in connection to the murder of Head Constable Ratan Lal during the North-East Delhi riots. Those granted bail include accused namely Mohd. Arif, Shadab Ahmad, Furkan, Suvaleen and Tabassum.

Gujarat HC: Depression Can Be Classified As Serious Illness In COVID's Context

The Gujarat High Court has held that in light of the COVID pandemic, depression can be classified as a serious illness. The decision was given by Justice N V Anjaria. The case was of Krishabh Kapoor v. Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat. The order and decision of a government college to cancel the registration and admission of a student as he failed to appear for the examination due to depression and suicidal thoughts was set aside by the court.

The Supreme Court has refused to hear a plea filed against the development of a National Highway in Dwarka by construction of flyover in a residential area allegedly without environment clearance. The decision was given by a Bench comprising Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Hima Kohli. The case was of Rao CGHS v. National Highway Authorities of India & Ors.

Employee Not Estopped From Challenging Terms & Conditions Of Employment If It Violates Statutory Requirements

The case was of Somesh Thapliyal v. Vice Chancellor, H.N.B. Garhwal University. The decision was given by Justices Uday Umesh Lalit and Ajay Rastogi. The court has held that an employee is not estopped from questioning terms and condition of employment at a stage where he finds himself aggrieved.

Magistrate While Accepting Chargesheet Has To Invariably Issue Summons And Not Arrest Warrant

The case was of Aman Preet Singh v. CBI. The decision was given by Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundresh. It was held in this case that while accepting a charge-sheet, the Magistrate or the Court is required to invariably issue a process of summons and not warrant of arrest. It is contrary to the governing principles for grant of bail to suddenly direct his arrest merely because charge sheet has been filed.
