SC: Criminal Proceedings Cannot Become Weapons Of Harassment

The case was of Randheer Singh v. State of UP. The decision was given by Justices Indira Banerjee and JK Maheshwari. The Court held that dispute of a civil nature has been given colour of criminal offence. The High Court should examine whether a complaint discloses criminal offence or not depending on the nature of the allegation.

Madras HC Directs State To Conduct Periodical Inspections Of Children’s Homes

The case was of Eternal Word Trust v. State of Tamil Nadu. The decision was given by Justice SM Subramaniam. The Madras High Court has recently directed the concerned State authorities to conduct periodical inspections of Children's Homesin order to regulate the living conditions, facilities and administration of such Homes.

Basic Structure Violation No Ground To Strike Down Statute

The Central Government has defended the validity of the Tribunal Reforms Act, 2021 (Act), submitting before the Supreme Court that even if there is a violation of the basic structure doctrine, it is not a ground to attack the validity of a statute.The Centre has told the Supreme Court that a violation of the principle of basic structure of the Constitution can be used to strike down a Constitutional amendment, but not a statute.

Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim And 4 Others Sentenced To Life Imprisonment By CBI Court

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and 4 others have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the CBI Court in the Ranjit Singh murder case.The other convicts who have been sentenced to LI today are Avtar Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, and Sabdil Singh. The case was heard by the Special CBI Court judge Sushil Garg.
