An aged person finally got justice after fighting a legal battle for 10 years.
Seventy five-year-old B R Sharma had taken a loan of Rs 3,000 from General Post Office, Ratlam, on June 10, 1996. He repaid the loan before time but the GPO charged him Rs 527 extra.
Mr Sharma showed the details of loan repayment and demanded Rs 527 paid extra. However, he was denied and ill-treatment meted out to him.
He lodged a complaint against the GPO with district consumer forum and spent about Rs 1,000 on the legal battle but finally got justice when the court delivered ruling in his favour.
In her verdict, District Consumer Forum Chairperson Bharti Baghel directed the GPO to pay Rs 527 in addition to cost incurred in the legal battle to Mr Sharma.
Mr Sharma’s counsel Sunil Parekh said Mr Sharma’s intention was not just to get Rs 527 but fight against lacune in the system.
