JHARKHAND HC DIRECTS RAJ THAKRAY TO SURRENDER IN 20 DAYS 12/23/2008 Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray was directed by the Jharkhand High Court to surrender before a local court in Jamshedpur within next 20 days. The High Court dismissed the petition of the MNS chief requesting exemption from personal appearance in the Jamshedpur court and contending territorial jurisdiction. Mr Amit Kumar Das appearing on behalf of Hamid Raja Khan, an advocate of Jamshedpur, alleged that Raj Thackeray had hurt the sentiments of the north Indians by using un-parliamentary language. Though the Jamshedpur court issued a non bailable warrant against Raj and the warrant of arrest was sent to the police commissioner of Mumbai, its execution was yet to be accomplished. In the same case, Raj was issued a transit bail from the Mazgaon court and the metropolitan magistrate had given conditional bail of 15 days but till date Thackeray has not appeared in the Jamshedpur court. During the day Justice D K Sinha passed the judgement, which was reserved for approximately three weeks. UNI
