KASAB'S POLICE CUSTODY EXTENDED TILL JANUARY 6, 2009 NEW DELHI: The lone surviving terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasav on Wednesday requested a Mumbai court that a Pakistani lawyer represent him in an Indian court, according to Times Now. A Mumbai court on Wednesday extended his police custody till January 6. Kasab had earlier been remanded to police custody till 24th December. Kasab has sought legal assistance from Pakistan and has written a letter to the Pakistan government in this regard, which Pakistan received on December 22. In the letter, Kasab has also sought a meeting with Pakistani officials. Pakistan, has however denied that Kasab is a Pakistan national. Amir Kasab, the father of Iman, has acknowledged to a Pakistani newspaper that the gunman whose pictures were beamed around the world by the media was his son and that they are Pakistanis. On December 11, the magistrate had visited the Mumbai crime branch, following which Ajmal was remanded in police custody for 14 days and kept at an undisclosed location. He has been booked under various sections like murder, attempt to murder, waging war against the nation, conspiracy and sections of the arms act & explosives act.
