BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur sparked outrage with her statements on "love jihad," urging a gathering to keep "weapons" sharpened in case someone attacks.

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pragya Singh Thakur for sparking controversy with her remarks on "love jihad" as she advised a gathering to have "weapons" sharpened so they could be utilized if someone attacked.

The killing of Hindu activists

As she spoke about the killing of Hindu activists, the MP for the Bhopal Parliamentary segment in Madhya Pradesh stated Hindus have the right to reply to those who assault them and their dignity.

Chaturvedi responded to her words by tweeting: From Goli Maaro to Chaku Maaro. "Sirf Nafrat Baato (spread hatred) against BJP leaders."

"goli maaro" - or shoot down traitors

Though the Shiv Sena leader did not name anyone in her message, she did retweet a news report on Pragya Thakur's remark. Union minister Anurag Thakur incited a crowd at an electoral rally allegedly in Delhi to yell "goli maro," or fire down traitors, in a widely circulated video in 2020. The Election Commission of India sent Thakur a notice.

Hindu Jagarana Vedike's South Region annual conference

Pragya Thakur declared at the Hindu Jagarana Vedike's South Region annual conference in Karnataka's Shivamogga, "They have a tradition of jihad, and if nothing else, they adore jihad. Even if they love, they commit jihad. We (Hindus) love the deity, a sanyasi loves his god... According to Sanyasi, the true notion of love will not exist in this world created by God unless all oppressors and sinful people are removed. Respond in the same way to those engaging in Love Jihad. Protect your girls and teach them moral values.

"Keep weapons in your homes, at the very least sharp knives used to cut vegetables... I'm not sure what situation may develop when... Everyone has the right to self-defense. If someone breaks into our home and attacks us, we have the right to respond appropriately "According to PTI, the BJP MP said.
