A decision to" legally pursue" the objectification of 865 Marathi- speaking villages in Karnataka into the western state was unanimously approved by the Maharashtra assembly.

The action was taken many days after the Karnataka assembly issued a resolution to defend the interests of the southern state and refuse to transfer any home to its neighbor. The boundary disagreement, which Maharashtra had" manufactured," had also been denounced in the Karnataka resolution.

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, proposed a resolution in both Houses of the Assembly to denounce Karnataka's action and charge the neighboring state of designedly raising the border disagreement.

The resolution approved by Maharashtra

The resolution approved by the Maharashtra assembly stated that" the state government stands forcefully with the Marathi- speaking people in 865 villages and metropolises of Belgaum( also known as Belagavi), Karwar, Nipani, Bidar and Bhalki that are being queried in the Supreme Court."

The statement said," The state government would formally pursue the case in the Supreme Court to include( in Maharashtra) every square inch of land in the municipalities of Belgaum, Karwar Bidar, Nipani, and Bhalki as well as the 865 Marathi- speaking villages in Karnataka.

Maharashtra resolution

According to the Maharashtra resolution, it was resolved to help further escalation of the situation till the Supreme Court renders its decision in the case after the principal ministers of the two countries met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Karnataka administration, on the other hand, took up a resolution in its state assembly to take a different station.

The resolution further stated that the civil government should advise the Karnataka administration to ensure the Marathi population's safety in border regions.

In the Maharashtra assembly, the Shiv Sena( Uddhav Thackeray group) requested that the 865 villages be honored as Union homes until the Supreme Court rendered its decision. It did not, still, factor into the result.

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister, stated in the assembly that the subject is sub judice and that it must be assured that there's no contempt of court committed while making the demand.

Uddhav Thackeray was a target of Fadnavis because he asked the Central government to declare" said," I was surprised that those who spoke history, he did nothing 2.5 times as CM. the disputed areas" as a Union Territory. The border conflict didn't begin when our government took office."

He added that the state's former administration holds the current administration, led by Eknath Shidne, responsible for the long-running border conflict.

The head of the K'taka Congress Criticizes the resolution

D K Shivakumar, the chairman of the Karnataka Congress, declared that not a single village would be given to Maharashtra and denounced the resolution that had been suggested in the assembly of the bordering state about the addition of Marathi- speaking villages in this region.

He asserted that the state as a total is unified in its opposition to and strong combination of the Maharashtra assembly's resolution on this matter.

The resolution to include our villages in Maharashtra is explosively opposed by the entire state of Karnataka and the Congress party. We state that we oppose it. We do not want their villages, and we are not willing to accept indeed one from Karnataka. We've set borders, and people live there," explained Shivakumar.

Our communities, the state, and the Kannada language must all be saved. On this matter, we're set to offer all forms of collaboration. The Congress is prepared to move a resolution in this regard, and we oppose reorganization. We'll also bring it up in the assembly, he continued.

Shivakumar added that Maharashtra has abomination towards Kannadigas who live on their sides of the border and conduct business, criminalizing them for designedly inciting people to beget a disturbance. He continued," We should all work together to guard the pride of our state.

Decades-old border issue

The border problem first surfaced in 1957 following the reorganization of governments along verbal lines. The border between Maharashtra and Karnataka had to be readjusted, according to the- governing Maharashtra.

Four member commission

The two countries also established a four-member commission.

Karnataka rejected the Maharashtra government's offer to dislocate 260 villages with the high attention of Kannada speakers.

Later, to expedite the situation, both governments turned to the Supreme Court. Belagavi, which was a part of the former Bombay Presidency, was claimed by Maharashtra since it contains a substantial Marathi- speaking population. further, 800 Marathi- speaking villages that are now a part of Karnataka were also claimed by it.

Karnataka claims that the verbal divisions made by the 1967 Mahajan Commission Report and the States Reorganisation Act are conclusive.
