CBI To Hand Over Scarlett's Organs 3 Jan 2009, 1559 hrs IST, PTI PANAJI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has agreed to hand over vital organs of British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling, which were removed during autopsy in India, her lawyer said. "CBI has agreed to hand over the organs. We are now working out modalities how to send the organs to UK," Vikram Varma, who represents Fiona Mackeown, Scarlett's mother, said. British teenager Scarlett had died on Goa's shore on February 18 last year. The suspicious death was confirmed as a rape and murder after two autopsies were conducted on her body. During the autopsies, Goa medical authorities had removed vitals organs like Uterus, splin and Kidney. Fiona had demanded that the state should hand over the organs which are mandatory for the third autopsy which is underway in UK. Goa government had refused to hand them over. The CBI which is investigating the death has now agreed to hand over the organs, Varma said. "It's only after third autopsy is completed and organs are handed over, the body would be buried. Her mother is waiting to give decent burial," the lawyer said. Scarlett's death had snowballed into major controversy in the state which had exposed rampant drug trafficking in state's coastal belt. Meanwhile, the CBI will leave to UK in the second week of January to record Fiona's statement in the death case. "CBI does require Fiona's statement to go ahead with the case," Varma said.
