MP HC Directs Health Secy To Inquire Into PVT Nursing Homes 1/14/2009 The Madhya Pradesh High Court issued directions to the state Health Secretary and the district administration to inquire into private nursing homes running without licence and take action under the Nursing Homes Rules, 2008. Hearing a petition filed by the Nagrik Upbhokta Marg Darshak Manch’s P G Najpande challenging irregularities in nursing homes, a division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Ajeet Singh asked the state Health Secretary file a report on the next date of hearing on February 2. The petitioner told the court that a survey conducted by them revealed that 2,785 nursing homes in Madhya Pradesh were running without proper license. In Jabalpur, 158 of the 300 nursing homes did not even apply for license. He requested the court to order closure of nursing homes running without proper license and providing inadequate services.
