New Delhi, Feb 9 (PTI) A CBI counsel today moved CBI Chief Ashwani Kumar claiming that appointment and continued extension of the agency's Prosecution Director S K Sharma were against the rules. "The appointment of Sharma to the post of legal advisor, selection to the post of Director of Prosecution (DoP) and repeated extension and re-appointment to the post in CBI is illegal, improper and incorrect," B N Kapri, senior prosecutor of the CBI, alleged in his complaint to the CBI Director. Sharma, who was appointed legal advisor in CBI in 1995, lacked requisite legal experience in advising in criminal and corruption matters, Kapri alleged. He was re-appointed as DoP on August one, 2008 one day after he retired from the same post on completion of 60 years, the complaint alleged, adding "there is no such provision of extension to the post of DoP in CBI." "Sharma could not be eligible for the appointment for public prosecutor due to his lack of experience as practicing advocate," Kapri alleged, demanding his immediate removal and recovery of allowances paid to him.
