Nigerian Held For Cheating Bid 12 Feb 2009, 1126 hrs IST, PTI Text: BANGALORE: A Nigerian national who tried to cheat a person in the city has been arrested. N Surendra Reddy, a realtor, complained to police that during December last, the Nigerian citizen, Garry Benjamin, approached him and said he was interested in investing 2.5 mn Euros (about Rs 17 crore) in land deals and would return after consulting his father. Later an unidentified person telephoned Reddy claiming that he was speaking from South African Embassy and there was a parcel in his (Reddy) name. The caller also said that to get the consignment he should pay USD 4,700 through his son, Benjamin. Reddy, who grew suspicious, filed a complaint on January 31 with police, who immediately nabbed the accused. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had tried to cheat several persons in the city adopting similar modus operandi, police said.
