RANCHI, 3 Mar 2009,: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday asked the state government to file a status report on the progress made for setting up a National Law School (NLS) and adjourned the hearing for March 18. The PIL filed by the Jharkhand Bar Association came up for hearing in the division bench comprising Chief Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice D K Sinha. Advocate general PK Prasad said in the court that legal formalities have been approved and syllabus has been finalized for the proposed law school. The state counsel informed the bench that admission of students would be on the admission pattern of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna. He said the proposed law school would come up on the campus of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra. Prasad said the state would grant Rs 50 lakh as the starting amount and Rs 50 crore in its corpus fund. After hearing the arguments, the court asked the core committee of the school to visit the NLS premises and file the status report about the progress made.
