Uttarakhand HC stops NABARD chief from performing duties

The Uttarakhand High Court has stopped NABARD Chief Umesh Chandra Sarangi from discharging his duties. A bench comprising Chief Justice B K Gupta and Justice B K Bisht gave the ruling on a plea by Deputy General Manager Sushil Das. Das had opposed the April 2007 appointment of Sarangi, a 1977 Maharashtra cadre IAS officer, on the grounds that his appointment did not meet the required norms for the post and no consultation had been made with the Reserve Bank before appointing him.
