3/31/2009 Delhi Developement Authority(DDA) told the Delhi High Court that it will not allot the flats to the applicants till the investigation being carried out by the the economic offence wing (eow) is complete. Arguing before Justice Hima Kohli the lawyer appearing on behalf of DDA said that though the draw has been finalised but the allotment of flats will be deffered till the EOW gives the clearance.Names of all those found guilty by the EOW will be struck off the list and others who are the genuine allotees will be given the flats. The Court gave its nod to DDA and directed them to furnish the report of the investigation in the court by July 30. While hearing a petition filed by an applicant which sought quashing of the process due to the alleged irregularities committed by the housing body, had refused to grant any stay on the allotment process. DDA had in December last year held the draw for allotment of 5000 flats under the housing scheme but later a complaint was registered accusing it of committing irregularities during the draw. Involved alleged use of names of some applicants of reserved category to procure allotments. Though the applicants who were residing in distant places of Rajasthan were not aware about the booking and the alotments of flats, their Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribe status was used by unscruplous property dealers to procure alotments in their name for resale at exhorbtant prices in the open market. The Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police's Crime Branch is probing the whole process of DDA which led to the alleged irregularities in the draw. 12 people including Laxmi Narayan Meena (54) who is a former SBI employee, and a resident of Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, have been arrested.
