SC adjourns petition of Mulayam Singh Yadav's in Disproportionate Assets case
The Supreme Court adjourned till July 30 the hearing of the review petition filed by former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members in the disproportionate assets case.
A bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir adjourned the hearing awaiting the outcome of the petitions challenging the powers of the High court and the Supreme court to order a CBI inquiry without the consent of the concerned state government.
Mulayam, his two sons Akhilesh Yadav, Prateek Yadav and his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav are facing allegations of acquiring assets beyond their known sources of income through corrupt means during the tenure of Mulayam as the state Chief Minister.
Yadav’s have challenged the order of the Supreme court dated March 1, 2007 directing the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry to ascertain whether prima facie case of corruption is made out against Yadav’s or not.
CBI was also directed to submit its inquiry report to the Union government which would decide the future course of action.
