The Government would be ready with a draft of national labour training policy within two months to strengthen the country's skilled workforce. This was decided at a two-day national consultation organised by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Indian Labour Organisation(ILO)in collaboration with Korea University of Technology and Education. Experts met in New Delhi on Thursday for two days for a brainstroming session to prepare a framework on development of training policy to increase the country's skilled workforce. The government wants to formulate a national training policy aimed at creating better job opportunities for every person under public-private partnership concept. The second consolations on the issue would take place in May to prepare a draft text for the policy. The third national consultation on the issue would be organised in June and as soon as the draft text is ready for official approval, the government plans to place it in Parliament. A proposed roadmap prepared at the first national consultation says the unorganised labour sector would get relevance skill training and access through the national training policy. Government plans to set up review committee for each theme comprising members from central and state governments and representatives of employers, workers, academics, civil society groups and public training providers. The findings of the review committee would be put on the website for a wider consultation.
