Madras High Court granted interim stay on the publication of the list released by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) on June two for the post of Steno-typist Grade III for Group IV Services 2007.
The court passed the order yesterday on petitions filed by candidates who had passed the written examination.
One of the petitioners S Chitra of Kancheepuram said she belonged to the Backward Class and completed her degree in Chemistry and Technical Courses in English and Tamil Typewriting-Senior Grade and Shorthand Tamil and English-Senior Grade.
She said she wrote the examination for the post of Steno-typist and was successful. Her registration number figured in the results published in all the newspapers.
She was selected by the Commission and successfully completed the certificate verification.
However, her registration number did not figure in the list of candidates provisionally selected.
No specific reason was given by the TNPSC authorities for the non-inclusion of her number and even after she made a detailed representation to the Commission, there was no proper reply, Chitra said in her petition.
She further submitted before the court that she had been put to hardship and mental agony.
In his order, Justice K N Basha said the court considered the petitioners submissions that they had been selected after the written examination as per the list published and attended the interview by producing the certificates.
But, their numbers were not included in the list of candidates provisionally selected.
While granting an interim relief of stay on publication of the list dated June two for three weeks, he posted the matter for July two.
