The High Court Bench in Dharwad has dropped the contempt proceedings against the Seer of Shri Ramachandrapur Math in connection with the alleged violation of Court direction about the Mahabaleshwar temple of Gokarna.

In a judgment, the Court observed that in the wake of the written statement submitted by the Seer, there was no need to continue with the contempt proceedings.

The Seer had pleaded in his submission that there was no such violation of the Court order as there was no activity of construction as such and status quo had been maintained. The Court was convinced about the statement and dropped the contempt proceedings against him.

Narahari Hegde and Vinayak Hegde filed the contempt petition before the High Court circuit bench.

However the contempt proceedings against four officials of endowment department and revenue departments were maintained and the case was posted for hearing on 16th of this month.

The controversy arose following handing over the administration of Mahabaleshwar Temple to Ramachandrapur Math. The Trustees of the temple had raised objection through a petition to the High court.

The original case is still to be decided.
