TN Bar Council tussle: Meeting convened to thrash out issue

Chennai, June 13 An Extra-ordinary General Body meeting of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puduchery is to be held here tomorrow to discuss the recent publication of news items regarding the cold war between the Council Chairman and one of its members. According to a circular to the Bar members issued by Chairman R K Chandramohan, there would be an Extra-ordinary General Body meeting of the Bar Council at 1100 hrs tomorrow and all the 25 members were requested to attend the meeting without fail. ''This meeting is convened at the request of Mr Sivaraj and five other members as per the provisions of Rule 29 of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu Rules,'' the circular added. It may be recalled that the Bar Council, the statutory body governing the interests of more than 65,000 lawyers in the State and Puducherry, was facing a power tussle between the present chairman and another member.
