A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court seeking CBI inquiry in the Bois Locker Room incident. Bois Locker Room was the name of an Instagram group, where young boys talked about women in the most degrading way possible. They shared vile pictures and morphed pictures of women without their consentand passed disgusting & degrading comments on them. The group came out of the closet when screenshots of the chats were circulated on different social media platforms.
The Delhi High Court has directed the Cyber Cell Unit of the Delhi Police to do a thorough investigation about the investigation and to file a report for the same. The two judge bench also directed the police to take measures to ensure security and safety of the complainants.
Earlier, Delhi Commission for Women took Suo moto cognizance of the incident and had directed the Delhi Police to file a report against the perpetrators. The Commission had also sent a notice to Instagram to take necessary actions against these groups regarding circulation of inappropriate content. Following the notice, the group admin, an 18 year old boy was arrested from Noida and at least 20 other school boys’ phones were confiscated.
The petition in the Delhi High Court have alleged that the members of this group have deactivated their accounts and have threatened to leak photos of the women who have exposed the group chat. They have also allegedly threatened to hack their accounts and humiliate them publicly. And therefore, the petitioner has plead to take strict action against the members of the group.
