Implementation of PESA Act

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has issued detailed guidelines for the implementation of Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (PESA) and is actively pursuing the issue of amending state laws to make them compliant with PESA through meetings and field visits. The Ministry has also framed and circulated Model PESA Rules to all nine PESA States. Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan have framed and notified their Rules for the implementation of PESA.
