Justice A C Arumugaperumal Adityan, who retired as the Judge of Madras High Court on April 16 after about 33 years of judicial service, was accorded a farewell by the Bench and the Bar at a brief function here. It was attended by the Madras High Court Chief Justice H L Gokhale and other judges and advocates. On the occasion, Advocate-General G Masilamani recalled Justice Adityan’s noteworthy and unblemished record. ‘Justice in his hands was tempered with mercy. His judgments had a touch of humane consideration and compassion. ‘In a short span of nearly four years as a High Court Judge, he disposed over 7,600 cases both at the Principal Seat and the Madurai Bench,’ Mr Masilamani said. Mr Masilamani said the Bar would remember Justice Adityan for his act of going to the rescue of advocates during the violent incidents in the High Court premises on February 19. In his response, the judge, who was injured in the incident, said everyone should take a vow not to allow such unfortunate incidents to recur.
