Under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, Aadhar enrolment of children below 5 years has been taken up with States/ Union Territories. As per information available from UIDAI, Aadhaar saturation among children below 5 years of age is 30.7% as on 15.11.2016.
States/ UTs have been requested to organise special enrolment camps at Anganwadi centres (AWCs) twice a year in coordination with the Registrar/ Enrolment Agencies active in States/ UTs for enrolment of children below 5 years under Aadhar.
The Aadhar Act has been notified in the Gazette of India vide notification dated 26.03.2016 conferring legal status upon the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to issue Aadhar to the residents of India. The Authority shall take special measures to issue Aadhar number to women and children.
This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Smt. Krishana Raj in the Rajya Sabha today.
