Graduated from the College of Agriculture and Research Institute, Vellayani, Trivandrum of Kerala University in 1969. Joined the Marketing wing of The Fertilisers And Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT Ltd),a CPSU in Kerala in 1970. Studied law in the RL Law College, Davangere in Karnataka Srare, while working for the FACT Ltd in Davangere. Awarded the LLB degree by the University of Mysore in 1989.

Worked in the four southern states of S.India in various capacities in th FACT Ltd from February 1970 to 31st March 2007. Mother tongue is Malayalam. English, Hindi, Kannada and to some extent telugu and Tamil.

Retired on superannaution on attaining the age of 58 from the services of  FACT Ltd on March 2007.

Enrolled as an advocate during April 2007 and practicing at Trivandrum.
