Section : Application of foregoing definitions to previous enactments.

4. Application of foregoing definitions to previous enactments.-(1) The definitions in section 3 of the following words andexpressions, thatis to say, "affidavit", "barrister" 2*** "District Judge", "father",2*** 3*** 2*** "immovable property", "imprisonment", 2***"Magistrate", "month", "movable property", "oath", "person","section", "son", "swear", "will", and "year" apply also, unless thereis anything repugnant in the subject or context, to all 4*[CentralActs] made after the third day of January, 1868, and to allRegulations made on or after the fourteenth day of January, 1887. (2) The definitions in the said section of the following wordsand expressions, that is to say, "abet", "chapter", "commencement",---------------------------------------------------------------------1. Ins. by the Adaptation of Laws (No. 1) Order, 1956.2. The words "British India", "G. of I.", "High Court" and "L. G." rep. by the A. O. 1937.3. The words "`Her Majesty' or `the Queen'" rep. by Act 18 of 1919, s. 3 and Sch. II.4. Subs. by the A. O. 1937 for "Acts of the G. G. in C."19"financial year", "local authority", "master", "offence", "part""public nuisance", "registered", "schedule", "ship", "sign", "sub-section" and "writing" apply also, unless there is anything repugnantin the subject or context, to all 1*[Central Acts] and Regulationsmade on or after the fourteenth day of January, 1887.
