Penalty for selling or delivering rejected weights and measures.
54. Penalty for selling or delivering rejected weights and measures. Whoever sells, delivers or disposes of, or causes to be sold, delivered or disposed of, any weight or measure which has been rejected on verification under this Act or the Standards Act, or any rule made under either of the said Acts, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both: Provided that nothing in this section shall apply to the sale, as scrap, of any rejected weight or measure which has been defaced in the prescribed manner.
