Section : Registering officer may commence prosecutions.

83. Registering officer may commence prosecutions.-(1) Aprosecution for any offence under this Act coming to the knowledge ofa registering officer in his official capacity may be commenced by orwith the permission of the Inspector-General, 2*** the Registrar orthe Sub-Registrar, in whose territories, district or sub-district, asthe case may be, the offence has been committed.---------------------------------------------------------------------1 For s. 82A, applicable to Bengal only, see the Bengal Touts Act,1942 (Ben. 5 of 1942), s. 10.2 The words "the branch Inspector-General of Sindh" rep. by the A.O. 1937.37 (2) Offences punishable under this Act shall be triable by anyCourt or officer exercising powers not less than those of a Magistrateof the second class.
