Section : Short title, extent and commencement.

THE LEGAL PRACTITIONERS (FEES) ACT, 1926ACT No. 21 OF 1926[25th March, 1926.]An Act to define in certain cases the rights of legal practitioners tosue for their fees and their liabilities to be sued in respect ofnegligence in the discharge of their professional duties.WHEREAS it is expedient to define in certain cases the rights of legalpractitioners to sue for their fees and their liabilities to be suedin respect of negligence in the discharge of their professionalduties; It is hereby enacted as follows:--1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be calledthe Legal Practitioners (Fees) Act, 1926.(2) It extends to the whole of India 1*[except the State of Jammu andKashmir.(3) It shall come into force on such date2* as the Central Governmentmay, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
