Section : Short title, extent and commencement.

THE BEEDI AND CIGAR WORKERS (CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1966 ACT NO. 32 OF 1966 [30th November, 1966.] An Act to provide for the welfare of the workers in beedi and cigar establishments and to regulate the conditions of their work and for matters connected therewith. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Seventeenth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Beedi and Cigar Workers (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1966. (2) It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. (3) It shall come into force in a State of such date1* as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed by the State Government for different areas and for different provisions of this Act.
