Section : Short title, extent and commencement.

THE WAR INJURIES (COMPENSATION INSURANCE) ACT, 1943 ACT NO. 23 OF 1943 [2nd September, 1943.] An Act to impose on employers a liability to pay compensation to workmen sustaining war injuries and to provide for the insurance of employers against such liability. WHEREAS it is expedient to impose on employers a liability to pay compensation to workmen sustaining war injuries and to provide for the insurance of employers against such liability; It is hereby enacted as follows:-- 1. Short title, extent and commencement. (1) This Act may be called the War Injuries (Compensation Insurance) Act, 1943. 1*[(2) It extends to the whole of India except 2*[the territories which, immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in Part B States].] (3) It shall come into force on such 3*date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
