3. Definitions. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-- (a) "Board" means the Coconut Development Board established under section 4; (b) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Board; (c) "coconut" means the fruit of coconut palm and includes green coconut, ripe coconut and copra. Explanation.--"Coconut palm" means the coconut tree, Cocos Nucifera Linn; (d) "coconut industry" does not include-- (i) coir industry; or (ii) an industry from which products (including by-products) out of coconut oil are manufactured; (e) "member" means a member of the Board and includes the Chairman; (f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. 12.1.1981: Vide Notifi.
