Section : Short title

1. Short title.-This Act may be called the Powers-of-Attorney Act,1882. Local extent. It applies to the whole of India 1*[except the Stateof Jammu and Kashmir] ; Commencement. and it shall come into force on the first day ofMay, 1882. 2*[1A. Definition. In this Act, "power-of-attorney" include anyinstrument empowering a specified person to act for and in the name ofthe person executing it."
